Gray Collegiate Academy provides to its students with an outstanding academic and athletic program, a college preparatory program in 9th and 10th grade and dual enrollment in 11th and 12th grade. In 11th and 12 grade dual credit classes will replace and substitute as high school electives. Students do not have to take the high school credit if replaced by a college equivalent!
Most public schools offer courses for 135 hours (e.g. 45 minutes over 180 days); GCA students will receive 180 hours of instruction plus needed interventions. Due to its size and location, GCA can focus on rigor, relationships and relevance drawn from college resources. Critical thinking will be embedded in the curriculum, enabling students to assess their own thinking in a cognitive way. Students will graduate from GCA with an Associate in Arts degree or 48-60 hours of credit, and with college scholarship opportunities.

GCA will employ administrators and teachers in a manner consistent with the South Carolina Charter Schools Act and the No Child Left Behind Act of 2002. GCA will employ teachers who are Certified and/or Highly Qualified (HQ). They will hold a Baccalaureate degree or Graduate degree in core subjects and at least 75% of all teachers will be certified. Each certified teacher must hold current certification by the State of South Carolina.
